I feel that I am privileged to work within the Early Years Foundation Stage with some wonderful staff and inspiring curious children. Every child is unique and brings with them new and different interests, cultural backgrounds, challenges and achievements; which means that no two days are ever the same! I am amazed how much children change and progress during the early years and this is due to the fact that children learn more between the ages of 1-5 than at any other point during their lives. It is therefore crucial that my colleagues and I, as early years practitioners, support, guide and shape individual play based learning to ultimately allow every child to achieve their best possible in all aspects of the EYFS curriculum. My colleagues and I endeavour to give children a wide range of experiences in order to support their learning and in particular their language development, early reading, writing and maths.
To quote Bill Gates the co-founder of Microsoft, entrepreneur and philanthropist,
“The first 5 years have so much to do with how the next 80 turns out.”
